Arjun Kapoor admits, “I never wanted to be an actor, always wanted to be a director”

In his journey of around a decade, Arjun Kapoor has worked with some top production houses and acclaimed filmmakers. His next offering Kuttey sees him collaborating with the ace filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj for the first time. However, Arjun has revealed that he never wanted to become an actor as his dream was something else.

In a chat with Free Press Journal, Arjun admitted, “I became an actor, so I can become a director. I always wanted to be a director and never had an inclination of being an actor.”

The Gunday actor also hinted on what he will do once he becomes a director. “Behind the camera, directors have pushed me so much, which will help me in my direction,” he said. “They have given me such a huge crux and let me fly. I have learnt an important thing: whatever you do, you have to do with conviction.”

Coming back to Kuttey, the film, which is the directorial debut for Aasmaan Bhardwaj, also stars Tabu, Naseeruddin Shah, Konkona Sen Sharma, Radhika Madan, Kumud Mishra and Shardul Bhardwaj. Along with being the music composer, Vishal Bhardwaj has also produced the film while the lyrics have been penned by Gulzar.

This is the second time that Arjun shared screen with Naseeruddin Shah after Finding Fanny. “Naseer saab has worked with dad (Boney Kapoor) and Anil chachu (Anil Kapoor). In Finding Fanny, we were sharing the front seat in the film. We spoke so much that we were very comfortable. He has always been very kind to me,” said the actor.

Kuttey is all set to release in cinemas on January 13.
