Koffee With Karan 7: Aamir Khan regrets not spending much time with Junaid Khan and Ira in early years: 'I did not nurture my relationships like my work'
Koffee With Karan Season 7 's fifth episode saw Laal Singh Chaddha stars Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan take the couch. Rife with inside jokes, roasts and secrets from the lives of the charismatic stars, the episode unveiled why the duo are bonafide movie stars. The show known for taking viewers a step closer to the unseen lives of celebrities, saw Aamir Khan, who recently separated from his ex-wife, Kiran Rao. He was previously also married to Reena Dutta. The actor opened up about not able to spend enough time with his kids Junaid Khan and Ira Khan in early years.
Aamir said, “A year ago, I went through a lot of introspection. I felt I did not nurture my relationships like my work. I realised that I’ve not spent so much time with Ira and Junaid since they were children.”
He added, “Now, in the last months, I’m a changed person. I connect more with my family, my children, Kiran’s parents, Reena’s parents, my mother, sister and brother. I would have liked to spend much more time with them at the cost of my work. But at that time, I was just so passionately following what I was doing.”
Aamir Khan opened up about the wholesome nature of his family. The star candidly shares how in a relationship of love and respect, there can be no ‘acrimonious moment’. “I have the highest regard and respect for both of them. Hum log hamesha parivaar he rahenge.”
He also revealed how the conventions of rocky relationships with exes never bothered him. “We all get together once a week, no matter how busy we are. There is a lot of genuine care, love and respect towards each other,” he said.
Aamir Khan has two children, Junaid Khan and Ira Khan, from his first marriage to Reena Dutta. With Kiran Rao, he has a son Azad Rao Khan.
Meanwhile, Aamir Khan is gearing up for the release of Laal Singh Chaddha releasing on August 11, 2022.
