EXCLUSIVE: "My friends range from Shah Rukh Khan’s Aryan to Dharmendra" - Karan Johar shares his secret of befriending stars of all generations
Filmmaker Karan Johar is back on the coffee couch! Season 7 of Koffee With Karan which premiered on Disney+ Hotstar with Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani co-stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. The next two episodes saw the pairings of Janhvi Kapoor-Sara Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar-Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama prior to the premiere of Koffee With Karan 7, the host shared how he is able to quickly connect with youngsters and how he is friends with actors from all age groups in the industry.
“So, I make myself accessible to them and I create that kind of easy energy between us,” he continued. “So that they don’t feel awkward around me and I don’t push the age or seniority card in their face. They’re all friends. Like literally my friends range from Shah Rukh’s son Aryan – who’s like a buddy of my life, we chat like friends – to Dharamji, with whom I'm working with right now, we have a very cordial, hugely respectful relationship. He’s 86-87. So, my bandwidth is literally traveling six decades.”
The new season of Koffee With Karan will see Kriti Sanon, Tiger Shroff, Shahid Kapoor, Kiara Advani, Ananya Panday, Vijay Deverakonda, Anil Kapoor, and Varun Dhawan as guests. Sidharth Malhotra, Vicky Kaushal, Gauri Khan, Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Maheep Kapoor, and Bhavana Pandey are also expected to appear. Karan Johar has also sent invites to Sanjay Leela Bhansali and SS Rajamouli.
Karan Johar returns to direction with Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film stars Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi. He will also direct an action film which will begin production in April 2023.
