The ongoing defamation trial began when Johnny Depp filed a $50 million lawsuit against former wife Amber Heard over an op-ed that she wrote in The Washington Post where she claimed of being a victim of domestic abuse. Although Amber did not mention Johnny in the piece she wrote, Johnny’s attorneys argued that it was clear that she was quoting him. Their divorce was finalized in 2017 after less than two years of marriage. A state court judge in Virginia's Fairfax County is overseeing the trial, which is in recess until May 16. Closing arguments are scheduled for May 27.
