HITS AND MISSES OF THE WEEK: Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Ananya Panday create glam magic; Kajol and Gauri Khan leave us unimpressed

Another magnificent week in the magical life of Bollywood celebrities has passed, with numerous dazzling and unimpressive appearances. Without a question, they shone like real stars throughout, although there were times when their fashion choices perplexed us. Then there were those that dazzled us with their exceptional fashion sense. Here's a roundup of the hits and misses of the week.

HITS OF THE WEEK

JANHVI KAPOOR

At Apoorva Mehta's 50^th birthday celebration, which was hosted by Karan Johar this week, Janhvi Kapoor wore a body-hugging mirror gown by Manish Malhotra that was custom made for her. A semi-sweetheart neckline and a floor-length hemline added drama to the dress. Large diamond-shaped mirrors were embedded throughout the ensemble. The gown's alluring embellishments emphasised Janhvi's slender frame. Janhvi wore a brown lip tint and smoky brown eye makeup, a stroke of heavy kohl with contoured cheeks Defined brows and fluttery lashes were also part of the beauty look, as were soft blown-out waves in her hair.

SHANAYA KAPOOR

For Shweta Bachchan’s white-themed birthday party, the 22-year-old debutante Shanaya suited up in her glam persona. She was dressed in a ruched white bodycon dress. She looked stunning in a mini corset-style dress by Club L London. Shanaya's curves were enhanced by the tie pattern and the ruching over the torso, which made her seem very exquisite. While the long sleeves, square neckline, cup details and drawstrings added a feminine touch. Shanaya's outfit is worth Rs. 6,100.

ANANYA PANDAY

At the same Apoorva Mehta’s birthday bash, AnanyaPanday made a strong statement. Ananya Panday wore Aadnevik's 2018 autumn-winter collection hand-beaded French lace gown. She wore a lavishly sequined floor-length sheer black dress with sleeveless details, a corset, and a zippered back to show off her toned figure. She channeled her inner gothic chic with disheveled curls, smoky eye make-up, nude lip color, and black nails. The actress limited her accessories to a bare minimum. She completed her ensemble with Zara's lace-up leather pointed-toe heels.

KATRINA KAIF

With the vivid neon pink colour bikini, Katrina Kaif looked summer-ready. The actress donned pink high-waisted bikini bottoms with a pink tankini top by Balenciaga worth $750 (Rs. 56,931 approx). Her oversized orange shirt with flap pockets from studio moda, which she layered like a shacket, added to her jazz. Her swimwear was complemented with a multicolour necklace from Studio Love Letter layered with a gold chain containing a pearl pendant from So Fetch, which added to her eccentric style. She wore a Zohra Atherina bandana on her head, and the fine print of the bandana flowed down the front of her shirt, making it seem stylish, and purple-tinted eyeglasses from sustainable brand Sasha Wear to finish the outfit. She wore a glossy mauve lip and a finely contoured face with traces of blush for glam choices.

ALIA  BHATT

The Gangubai Kathiawadi actress dazzled in a Magda Butrym strapless floral dress with a plunging neckline, which she topped with a jacket in the same design. The flowery dress has a bustier fitting design, according to her outfit. This little dress has rounded vintage cups, a tight body with all-over ruching, and a short skirt length. Alia wore a tuxedo-style silk jacket with narrow lapels and a single covered button fastening, in a similar bold floral motif, with an oversized fit. Alia's outfit is worth $3860 (Rs. 2.93 lakh approx). Alia accessorised her look with a $745 (Rs. 56,684 approx.) Christian Louboutin classic Kate pumps with a 100 mm heel and pointed toe.

TARA SUTARIA

For the same birthday bash, Tara Sutaria wore a shimmery white body-hugging sleeveless floor-length gown by Kuwait-based designer Yousef Al Jasmi with glittering accents that lit it up magnificently. The floor-length hemline emphasised her slender frame. Her ensemble is worth $3500 (Rs. 2.65 lakh approx.). She opted for defined brows, a wash of pink shimmer on the eyelids, a glossy peach lip, and flushed cheeks. She accessorised her ensemble with Vanda fashion's silver encrusted Chandelier earrings and Diamantina jewels' silver statement rings and cuffs.

MISSES OF THE WEEK

KAJOL

For Apoorva Mehta’s 50^th birthday earlier this week, Kajol chose a body-hugging black off-shoulder dress and teamed it with heels. It wasn’t a style something Kajol regular wore and the ill-fitting of the outfit made her look uncomfortable. The peep-toe heels also didn’t work with the dress.

GAURI KHAN

Gauri Khan's all-black ensemble failed on many levels when she was seen at Apoorva Mehta's 50th birthday party. The costume was unimpressively loose fitted and appeared to be not up to the mark for a glam event. Even her make-up was also not complementing the dress.
